I’m Mariama Marie Kargbo, born in Sierra Leone and shaped by the challenges of civil war. After relocating to Canada, I gained decades of experience in youth engagement, housing, and community support. Today, as I study to become an international social worker, I am building a bridge between my two homes—Canada and Sierra Leone—through the Bright Horizons Youth Development Organization. Rooted in healing, advocacy, and hope, our mission is to empower Sierra Leone’s youth with mentorship, education, and creative expression, helping them discover their potential and become resilient leaders.
